An open bed with a closed tailgate gets a little better (physics with air movement and all that). A tonneau cover can get you as much as 2-3 better, and truck caps are open for experimentation. Canvas ones offer no protection against theft, and I don’t like the roll up ones with the slat bars and canvas neither. Canvas expands and contracts in the cold and heat and has a tendency to leak. The cover is easy to cut and has a tendency to leak.
