When you put it back together, separate the secondary with one of the cvt cover bolts. It takes the tension off the belt do you can get the primary sheave securely on the splines. Also, don't forget to put the washer behind the nut on the primary sheave. But it wouldn’t pull off by hand no matter how much I lubed it and tapped. Later I used a large 3-jaw puller from Harbor Freight and it popped right off.
